This article examines the political and societal relationship between the Coptic Church and the Egyptian State during the decade of the 2000s, as compared to the relations in previous eras such as the Nasser and Sadat ones. The article stresses that the established entente between the Coptic Church and the Mubarak regime, especially during the late 2000s and before the 25 revolution, was eroding and that there was no personal relationship between their leaders to safeguard it in the decade which followed.
