This article examines the relations between the Coptic community and the Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt following the Arab uprisings and President's Morsi's electoral success. The author goes into detail focusing on the problems arising from the societal divide in Egyptian society, as well as the issues stemming from religious differences. On the political level, the author illustrates the inconsistencies of the electoral promises of the Muslim Brotherhood towards the Coptic community but also examines the reasons why the lay Copts chose to rally with their Egyptian brethren during the Arab Spring.
